With Silent Hill 2 remake, the next Astro Bot and now Concord rumored for the yet-to-be-announced PlayStation Showcase, perhaps Marvel’s Wolverine may appear. However, a new tweet from Insomniac Games has curtailed any expectations.
After the developer posted about Ratchet and Clank on Twitter, one user asked about Marvel’s Wolverine. Insomniac responded, “We’ll share news when the time is right, and the right time isn’t now.”
Of course, details on the title are already out due to a ransomware attack last December that leaked over 1.3 million files. An internal presentation indicated a late 2026 launch, followed by Marvel’s X-Men in 2030 and its sequel in 2033. Insomniac has yet to officially announce the X-Men titles.
Announced in 2021 exclusively for PS5, Marvel’s Wolverine is a standalone game that isn’t connected to existing storylines (though it shares the same universe as the Marvel’s Spider-Man games). However, the team wants to “respect the DNA of what makes the character so popular”, while seeking opportunities to “make it feel fresh and truly reflect the Insomniac spirit.”
It also promises a mature tone, with Spec Ops: The Line lead writer Walt D. Williams serving as narrative director. Further details and announcements will take time, so sit tight and stay tuned.
