20th November: Saturday’s Football Accumulator – 8/1

With Europe s top-tiers making their return from the international break this weekend, we have a stacked schedule on our hands. So, for those of you who are looking to stick on a Saturday acca, we have found a handful of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.

Saturday November 20th

BST 15:00 Fulham vs Barnsley

Starting with Saturday s hosts, last seen heading into the international break with a 1-0 win away at Peterborough, there is no doubt that the mood in Fulham s camp will be at a real high. Tipped by many as a leading contender to book an immediate Premier League return this season, the Cottagers have really found their feet under new boss Marco Silva. Marking their return to action this weekend holding a commanding six-point buffer in the automatic spots, the one-time Everton manager finds his side enjoying a stellar six-match winning run. With that run highlighted by a remarkable 7-0 romp against Blackburn earlier in the month, Fulham have continued to shine at both ends of the pitch. Along with now recording five clean sheets on the spin, they also have one attacking talisman enjoying his own purple patch. Bagging that famous winner and sending Serbia to next year s World Cup finals in midweek, Aleksandar Mitrović is in the midst of a free-scoring Championship run. In fact, the 27-year-old has already racked up a staggering 20 second-tier goals so far. On the flip side, while Barnsley might have managed to clinch a shock play-off spot season, they are in the midst of a real crisis. Sat firmly in the relegation zone this time around, the Yorkshire outfit have lost eight of their last nine contests.

Tip: Fulham win to nil @ 21/20

15:00 Portsmouth vs AFC Wimbledon

Although Portsmouth might have opened the 2021/22 campaign in the midst of a woeful run of form, the south coast outfit have managed to find a much-needed boost. Making the decision to stick with Danny Cowley, the former Premier League side have really started to skyrocket their way up the League One table. Managing to find a route into the top-half and with their sights set on making another charge for the play-offs this season, the Blues were also last seen picking up an impressive victory on the road. Claiming a 1-0 win away at leading promotion contenders Wycombe last weekend, the one-time Lincoln boss should find the mood in his camp at a real high. Extending on their EFL Trophy adventure thanks to a 3-0 romp against Crystal Palace s U21 s, Pompey have won each of their last three matchups on the spin. Likewise, it should also be noted that Cowley s men are unbeaten in each of their last six matchups across all formats, a run that stems back to the middle of October. On the flip side, while Saturday s hosts might be flying high, the same cannot be said for a struggling AFC Wimbledon. Last seen getting hit with a 1-0 defeat against Sutton on the road, the Dons have lost four of their last five outings, a run that has seen them bag just a single goal.

Tip: Portsmouth win under four goals @ 7/5

15:00 Dover Athletic vs Halifax Town

While Halifax might have eventually missed out on a play-off spot last season, they appear to have their sights set on going one step further this time around. Once again leading the chase in the top-seven hunt, Pete Wild s men were last seen earlier in the month claiming a stunning victory as they extended on their FA Cup adventure. Storming their way to a remarkable 7-4 win against Maidenhead, the Shaymen will be desperate to build off of that momentum here. Knowing that maximum points on Saturday afternoon could see them skyrocket into the top-three, the Yorkshire-based outfit are enjoying a hugely impressive run of form. In fact, including an impressive 1-0 win against Dagenham Redbridge on October 26th, Halifax have lost just one of their last 13 matchups across all formats, a run that stems back to the start of September. Smelling a golden chance on their travels this weekend, a struggling Dover could face another stern test. Last seen getting hit with a 2-1 loss away at Torquay, the Whites are only dealing with a host of issues both on and off the pitch. All but already securing their relegation to England s sixth-tier, Saturday s hosts have also failed to collect a single victory since opening the 2021/22 campaign. Collecting just a single point from any of their previous nine outings, we re backing an away win here.
